

In real life Patty Rutland is the"Bakers Ma'am" who bakes
beautiful creations at her shop located at 35 Brookline Road in
Ballston Spa, NY
She has been decorating cakes since 1978 and her well known shop
has a New York State Trademark. Most of Patty’s Cakes are
custom designed with extraordinary attention to the smallest detail!
In 1987 Patty had her 1st place “Goose
Cake” featured on the front cover of an international magazine.
Patty has also had many newspaper articles
featuring her work and shoppe. For many years the
Department of Aging in Albany commissioned Patty to create and present
a cake to, at that time, Governor Mario Cuomo. The last cake presented
to Cuomo before leaving office was a replica of the state Capitol,
serving 400 guests.
In 1999 and 2003 Patty was given the honor
of creating Governor George Pataki’s inaugural cakes.
Patty’s other attributes include being one of the first women
inducted into the Ballston Spa Rotary Club in 1988. Since 1997 she
has been a “Paul Harris Fellow” and secretary for the
Rotary Club. In 2002 and 2007 she was voted “Rotarian of the Year”.
She also serves on the Board of Directors for the club.
In 1991 Patty was bestowed the “Woman
of the Year Award” by the Business and Professional Women’s
Club and was also nominated for the most enterprising woman of the
Capitol Region.
Patty's shop was featured in Ann Hauprich's "Saratoga Living" Magazine and also Ann's recent book "Deadlines, Headlines and Porcupines the Laugh Lines Behind the Bylines".
The shoppe is filled with examples of her beautiful
wedding cakes and numerous ribbons and trophies from competitions.
The shoppe is open for brides and family by appointment only so
all have an opportunity to look through albums and leave with a
box of samples of cake to try.
